１）本疋田は、日本が世界に誇る染めものの技の中でとても高い精緻な見事な技の１つです。
２）1反は13mですが、その中に「20万粒」近い粒があり、それを全部絹糸で8回巻いています。
３）「45立て」とは、反物の横幅の中に４５個の絞りの粒があるという意味です。
４）熟練した職人さんしか、これほどの技を持ちませんので、熟練した職人さんの心と沢山の時間ががこもった作品になります。
５）この本疋田は、「本座」と呼ばれるものです。「本座」とは、下絵を書いてその受けからその通りに絞るのではなく
「ゆらぎ」のようにゆらゆらした形の雰囲気をだす形として、下絵なしで熟練した職人さんが経験と感だけで柄を作っていくものです。
見事な形に完成しています。
６）この１反を作るのに、熟練した職人さんで１年から長ければ３年程度かかります。
７）それだけ大変ということもありますし、もうほとんど作ることができなくなっています。
８）この絞りは、絞りの名家「有松絞り 竹田嘉兵衛商店」の作品です。自信をもってお召しいただけます。
９）皇后美智子様も絞りを愛して下さいまして、竹田嘉兵衛商店の同様の無地の本疋田をご愛用下さっています。
10）美智子様は、フォーマルな袋帯を合わせたり、また、TPOにあわせて名古屋帯になさったりしています。

四ツ巻鹿の子は綿糸で４回括っているのに対して
本疋田は絹糸で手の良い方は8回、中には10回括ることもあります。
年間、出来上がってくる反数が激減しています。
庄九郎は駒綸子の強い生地を使っていますので、絞りの着物が膨らみ、着ると太って
見える大きな原因である裏打ちをする必要がありません。
裏打ちの生地無しで単衣でもお召頂けます。
1) Honhikita is one of the most sophisticated and beautiful techniques among the world-famous dyeing techniques that Japan is proud of.
2) One roll is 13 meters long, and contains nearly 200,000 beads, all wrapped 8 times with silk thread.
3) “45-tate” means that there are 45 dyed beads in the width of the roll.
4) Only experienced craftsmen can achieve this level of skill, so it is a work that is filled with the heart and a lot of time of the experienced craftsman.
5) This Honhikita is called “Honza.” “Honza” is not a method of drawing a rough sketch and then dyeing it exactly as it is, but rather a method in which an experienced craftsman creates a pattern without a rough sketch, using only his experience and intuition, to create a shape that gives the impression of a swaying shape like “yuragi.”
The finished product is a magnificent shape.
6) It takes an experienced craftsman anywhere from one year to up to three years to make one roll of this.
7) It is very difficult to make, and it is almost impossible to make it any more.
8) This shibori is a work of the famous shibori house “Arimatsu Shibori Takeda Kahei Shoten”. You can wear it with confidence.
9) Empress Michiko also loves shibori, and wears a similar plain Honhikita kimono from Takeda Kahei Shoten.
10) Empress Michiko wears it with a formal Fukuro obi, and also wears it as a Nagoya obi to suit the occasion.

Yotsumaki Kanoko is tied four times with cotton thread,
Honhikita is tied eight times with silk thread by skilled craftsmen, and sometimes even ten times.
The number of bolts of cloth produced each year has drastically decreased.
Shokuro uses strong Komanrinzu fabric, so there is no need for lining, which is the main reason why tie-dyed kimonos tend to puff up and make you look fat when worn.
You can wear it as a single layer kimono without lining.
