2) One roll is 13 meters long, and contains nearly 200,000 beads, all wrapped 8 times with silk thread.<\/p>\n

3) “45-tate” means that there are 45 dyed beads in the width of the roll.<\/p>\n

4) Only experienced craftsmen can achieve this level of skill, so it is a work that is filled with the heart and a lot of time of the experienced craftsman.<\/p>\n

5) This Honhikita is called “Honza.” “Honza” is not a method of drawing a rough sketch and then dyeing it exactly as it is, but rather a method in which an experienced craftsman creates a pattern without a rough sketch, using only his experience and intuition, to create a shape that gives the impression of a swaying shape like “yuragi.”<\/p>\n

The finished product is a magnificent shape.<\/p>\n

6) It takes an experienced craftsman anywhere from one year to up to three years to make one roll of this.

Yotsumaki Kanoko is tied four times with cotton thread,<\/p>\n

Shokuro uses strong Komanrinzu fabric, so there is no need for lining, which is the main reason why tie-dyed kimonos tend to puff up and make you look fat when worn.<\/p>\n
